The GravityLux comes in three firmness levels: soft, medium, and firm. On our 1–10 firmness scale, the soft is 4/10, the medium is 5.5/10, and the firm is 7/10, with 10 being the firmest. This selection provides an option to almost anyone regardless of their body type or sleeping style.
Keep in mind that firmness is subjective. For example, petite individuals typically experience mattresses firmer than they’re described by the brand, while plus-size shoppers almost always find mattresses softer than described. As a general guide, lightweight and strict side sleepers will enjoy the soft option, average-weight and strict back sleepers will enjoy the medium, and strict stomach sleepers and those who like a firm mattress will appreciate the firm version.
We tested the medium model, so keep that in mind for the rest of the review.
Since the WinkBeds GravityLux is a foam mattress, you can expect more softness and less bounce than a firmer spring mattress. That said, the WinkBeds is on the more responsive side compared to other foam mattresses, and you shouldn’t have any trouble moving around or changing positions.
Next, the GravityLux comes in feeling a bit cooler than other all-foam mattresses, thanks to its cooling top layers of gel foam and Aircell foam. Below the top layers, the WinkBeds also has several layers of breathable support foam that keep unwanted pressure off your back and stop your mattress from sagging over time.
Body Type: | Back Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers | Side Sleepers |
Lightweight< 130 lbs: | 5 | 2 | 5 |
Average-weight130–230 lbs: | 5 | 2 | 5 |
Heavyweight> 230 lbs: | 3 | 1 | 3 |
1 = Very poor 2 = Not good 3 = Fair 4 = Good 5 = Excellent
Back sleepers simply need a mattress that supports the natural “S” curve of their back, and the WinkBeds GravityLux does just that. Whether you’re a lightweight or average-weight sleeper, you’ll be able to get that cloud-like softness and support from your WinkBeds. This mattress will also appeal to heavyweight back sleepers, but some heavier sleepers may want a little more firmness.

The best mattresses for stomach sleepers have enough firmness to keep the hips from sinking into the bed. Unfortunately, the medium WinkBeds GravityLux just doesn’t make the cut for lightweight, average-weight, or heavyweight side sleepers. So, if you’re a stomach sleeper feel free to check out the firmer version or some of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers instead.
The best mattresses for side sleepers give sleepers the right balance of softness and support while keeping pressure off of key areas like the shoulders and hips. With the WinkBeds GravityLux, lightweight, average-weight, and heavyweight side sleepers can all enjoy the mattress’s supportive and cushioning foam. However, some heavyweight side sleepers may find the mattress a little bit too soft and sinking.

Lightweight, average-weight, and heavyweight combination sleepers all need a mattress that lets them move around and change positions throughout the night. If that sounds like you, then the WinkBeds GravityLux’s responsive all-foam design will be a great fit, especially if you switch between your back and stomach.

The WinkBeds GravityLux, like many of the best cooling mattresses, is made of breathable and light materials that keep you from cooking all night. If you’re a hot sleeper, you’ll appreciate the cooling gel and foam in the WinkBeds mattress’s top layers.
Edge support is all about how well your mattress supports weight on its, well, edges. For seniors or couples looking to maximize their mattress space, edge support can be a pretty big deal. Unfortunately, the WinkBeds’s softer construction won’t let you firmly sleep or sit on the edges.

The WinkBeds GravityLux has some bounce and responsiveness to it, especially for an all-foam mattress. If you’re a combination sleeper looking for a foam mattress, the WinkBeds should be right up your alley.
Couples and light sleepers will like this one. The WinkBeds GravityLux kills it at motion isolation, meaning you’ll barely feel your sleep partner or pets tossing, turning, or getting up during the night.
Like many other all-foam mattresses, the WinkBeds GravityLux doesn’t make a whole lot of noise. So, if you’re a light sleeper or if you’re tired of creaky springs during sex, this mattress has you covered.
Pain relief is all about keeping pressure off your hips, shoulders, and back. If you’re a lightweight sleeper, the WinkBeds GravityLux should feel like zero gravity in any position. However, for heavier side sleepers, you might want more support for your shoulders and hips.
Also, it’s important to keep in mind that the GravityLux doesn’t offer the deep contouring usually found in memory foam mattresses, so if your back pain is usually best relieved from a deep hug and extensive cushioning, the GravityLux won’t be the best choice for you. See the best mattresses for back pain for other options.
The WinkBeds GravityLux is quiet and pretty responsive. As long as you (and your partner) are willing to compromise a little on edge support, there shouldn’t be any issues in bed.
Off-gassing is like that “new car smell” but for your mattress. In this case, the WinkBeds isn’t a particularly “smelly” mattress. In fact, you shouldn’t smell anything when you unbox it.
The GravityLux comes in at above-average for durability. All-foam beds typically go around six or seven years before showing signs of wear, often in the form of body impressions.
The GravityLux is a foam mattress that’s constructed with a tufted cover, proprietary memory foam, a zoned transition layer, and a high-density support core. It measures 11” tall and has a light bounce, generous lift throughout the body, light contouring, and a supported, durable feel.
Now, let’s get into the layers:
Layer #1—Tufted TENCEL Cover: The top of the GravityLux is a white, tufted cover made from TENCEL, which is a stretchy, breathable material. The cover has two inches of premium cooling gel foam sewn into it, which provides initial pressure relief on the mattress and encourages cooling.
Layer #2—AirCell Foam: This three-inch comfort layer is Winkbeds’ patented memory foam. It’s an open-cell foam that has a more responsive feel than traditional memory foam, with shock-absorbing air capsules that helps alleviate pressure and an open-cell design that mitigates heat buildup.
Layer #3—Progression Foam: Progression Foams is the GravityLux’s transition layer. This three inches of foam is zoned, meaning that it offers enhanced support and firmness at the hips and lumbar spine while offering more give at the shoulders. This varied level of softness is intended to enhance healthy spinal alignment for all sleeping positions.
Layer #4—ATLAS Core Foam: The ATLAS Core foam is Winkbeds’ support foam, and it’s a high-density polyfoam with sag-proof features.

The Winkbeds GravityLux mattress ships free to addresses in the contiguous U.S. White glove delivery, which typically includes in-home setup and old mattress removal, is not available at this time. The GravityLux ships free via UPS ground and should arrive in four to eight business days.
As a bed-in-the-box online mattress company, Winkbeds ships all its mattresses rolled and compressed in a 20” x 20” x 44” cardboard box. The box should be easy to maneuver into your house or apartment. To unbox it, bring it into the room where you plan on setting up the mattress, remove the bed from the box and the plastic wrap, unroll it, and allow it to expand for up to 72 hours before sleeping on it.
Every WinkBeds mattress is covered by WinkBeds’ Limited Lifetime warranty for the full period of the original owner’s use. The warranty protects against indentations in the foam greater than 1.5” deep as well as cracking or splitting of the materials. If a defect is found, WinkBeds will replace your defective mattress with a new WinkBeds mattress in the same model and size at no charge to you.
Keep in mind that, in order for the warranty to apply, you’ll need to use the GravityLux on a rigid, non-flexible surface or bed frame with center support. You’re also responsible for returning the bed and showing original proof of purchase if a defect is discovered. WinkBeds may request photo evidence of the defect instead, but you’ll be responsible for shipping costs associated with returning the mattress.
If a defect is confirmed by WinkBeds, the company will assume all transportation costs associated with returning and replacing the bed.
WinkBeds Return Policy is a simple, straightforward 120-night sleep trial period for all its mattresses. You have a 120-night period to try the mattress in your home once it arrives, and if you don’t love it, WinkBeds will issue a full refund and arrange pickup for free.
WinkBeds does ask that you sleep on the mattress for at least 30 nights prior to making a decision. If you exchange the GravityLux for another model during the sleep trial period, you’ll receive a 60-night trial on the second mattress.

Hot sleepers | Sleepers wanting an innerspring bed |
Sleepers needing pain relief | Sleepers wanting a responsive mattress |
Shoppers wanting a supportive bed | Heavier sleepers |
The original WinkBeds is Winkbeds’ flagship bed, and it’s a coil-on-coil mattress with a hybrid design. It has comfort layers over transitional foam-encased pocketed coils and a pocketed coil support core. Like the GravityLux, the WinkBeds is available in three firmness levels.
We recommend the WinkBeds for sleepers who like responsiveness and an innerspring feel, and the GravityLux is best for those who like a supportive foam bed with moderate conforming and pressure relief.

WinkBeds GravityLux Mattress Is Best For… | WinkBeds Plus Is Best For… |
Shoppers wanting a firmer mattress | Sleepers wanting extra edge support |
Foam mattress shoppers | Sleepers wanting more support |
Sleepers wanting more contouring | Heavyweight sleepers |
The Winkbeds Plus is a heavy duty hybrid mattress that’s designed to meet the needs of sleepers who weigh more than 300 pounds. Technically a riff on the original WinkBeds mattress, it replaces the microcoils found in the WinkBeds’s comfort layer with latex foam, which enhances the lift, support, and durability required by heavier body types.
As an innerspring mattress, the WinkBeds Plus offers even better responsiveness and edge support than the GravityLux. And, like the original WinkBeds, it also sleeps cooler. We recommend the WinkBeds Plus for large body types who need a reliably supportive mattress. The GravityLux is best for foam mattress shoppers who like a firm, supportive surface with some contouring.

WinkBed GravityLux Mattress is Best For: | Saatva Classic Mattress is Best For: |
Shoppers looking for an all foam mattress | Shoppers looking for a traditional innerspring mattress feel |
Foam mattress lovers | Shoppers looking for a luxury shopping experience |
Sleepers looking for a mattress that has light bounce | Hot Sleepers |
The Saatva Classic is Saatva’s flagship mattress, and it’s a high-quality, modern take on the classic innerspring bed. It has a euro pillow top and comfort layers of memory foam and polyfoam. It also contains a layer of coils. Similar to the GravityLux, you can choose from three firmness levels: plush, luxury firm, and firm.
If you’re a hot sleeper or like the feel of a traditional innerspring, we recommend the Saatva Classic. It also comes with free white glove delivery, which can appeal to those who like a luxury shopping experience. The GravityLux is a better choice for people who are set on an all foam mattress and like a dense foam feel with light bounce rather than a truly springy, innerspring bed.

WinkBed GravityLux Mattress is Best For: | GhostBed Luxe Mattress is Best For: |
Those looking for a more affordable mattress than the GhostBed Luxe | Couples, or those who share a bed |
Those looking for a more supportive feeling mattress | Shoppers looking for an exceptionally cool, all foam mattress |
Shoppers looking for a mattress that allows you to feel lifted | Shoppers looking for a plush feel |
The GhostBed Luxe is a memory foam mattress with a 5/10 firmness level. It’s constructed with a quilted cover, Phase Change Material, gel memory foam, and high-density polyfoam. The GhostBed Luxe excels in minimizing motion transfer for couples, and the Phase Change Material and fiber padding enhance its breathability and make it an exceptionally cool all-foam mattress.
Compared to the GravityLux, the GhostBed Luxe has more of the plush, viscous feel that you’d expect from a memory foam mattress. If you like sleeping “in” your mattress, you’ll prefer the GhostBed Luxe, but if you like a lifted, more supportive feel, you’ll like the GravityLux. The GhostBed Luxe only comes in one firmness level, and it’s priced several hundred dollars higher than the GravityLux.

WinkBed GravityLux Mattress is Best For: | Nectar Original Mattress is Best For: |
Sleepers who love conforming and pressure relief | Those looking for a budget friendly mattress |
Those looking for a mattress that can provide different firmness preferences | Shoppers looking for deep pressure point relief |
Shoppers looking for a mattress that allows you to feel lifted | Couples who crave top-notch motion isolation |
The Nectar is a popular foam bed-in-a-box mattress known for its low price point and deep body cradle. It has a traditional memory foam feel that people who like the viscous, sinking sand sensation of memory foam will love.
Both the GravityLux and the Nectar alleviate pressure well, but if you want deep pressure point relief, we recommend the Nectar. Since the Nectar only comes in one firmness level (medium-firm), those with different preferences will find one of the GravityLux models more comfortable. The Nectar, however, is a high-value pick, so it appeals to budget shoppers.

All of the WinkBeds mattresses, including the WinkBeds GravityLux, are handmade from quality materials in either Virginia, Wisconsin, or Arizona. Furthermore, WinkBeds mattresses only ship within the US. If you’re interested in visiting a WinkBeds store in-person, there are seven of them across the country.
Typically, foam mattresses last for about 6–7 years before they start showing signs of sagging. The WinkBeds GravityLux’s foam support layers, however, have an above-average durability, meaning that you’ll likely enjoy your WinkBeds for over 7 years. Lastly, your WinkBeds is also covered by a lifetime warranty.
If you’re a hot sleeper, the cooling WinkBeds GravityLux should be a great fit for you. While some sleepers overheat on all-foam mattresses, the WinkBeds has several comfort layers of cooling gel and foams that are designed to keep your bed feeling breathable and light.
Here’s the final breakdown: the GravityLux is a great choice for sleepers who want an all-foam bed with more responsiveness, cooling, and durability than is usually found in foam mattresses.
We also recommend it for couples and those who normally sleep hot on all-foam mattresses; the bed is virtually silent, minimizes most motion transfer, and has great edge support for partners, and its open-cell foam and cooling cover allow it to sleep exceptionally cool compared to other all-foam beds.
