WinkBeds is a luxury bed-in-box mattress manufacturer that will likely crop up if you’re in the market for a new mattress. The original WinkBed is the company’s most popular mattress, while the EcoCloud is its most eco-friendly mattress option. In this comparison, we’re covering the pros and cons of both mattresses.
The WinkBed is a luxury hybrid mattress made with gel-infused foams and individually wrapped coils for pressure relief and support. The Winkbed EcoCloud mattress offers similar benefits but substitutes eco-friendly latex for a more sustainable, natural mattress.

Side, back, stomach, combination, and plus-size sleepers | Eco-minded shoppers |

With different materials in their comfort layers, it makes sense that the WinkBed and the EcoCloud mattresses have their own distinct feel.
The Winkbed has four firmness options. The softer feel is around a 4 on the 1-10 firmness scale. Luxury-firm, the most popular option, is around a 6. Firmer is a 7.5 and plus is about an 8 on the 10-scale. Lightweight and average sleepers should opt for the softer mattress options, while heavyweight sleepers will benefit from the firmer and plus mattresses.
The EcoCloud doesn’t have the same range of firmness options. Instead, it’s a fairly neutral comfort level–around a 5.5 on the 10-scale. Lightweight and average sleepers should find it soft but comfortably solid, but heavier sleepers and those who spend the night on their stomachs may want to explore something a little firmer.
The WinkBed’s feel varies depending on the firmness chosen. The softer options have a soft, fluffy, and gently plush feel, while the firmer mattresses are comfortable but solid.
The EcoCloud has a comfort layer made with natural latex, which is responsive and buoyant, with a soft, jello-like feel.
The soft WinkBed is the best choice for side sleepers, while the luxury-firm should suit sleepers of any position, including combination sleepers, in the light to average weight range. Stomach sleepers will do well on the firmer WinkBed.
The EcoCloud is a great option for combination sleepers, who will find the mattress responds quickly as they change positions. Back and side sleepers should have the lift and support they need for a good night’s sleep, but stomach sleepers may need something a touch firmer.
WinkBed Performance By Body Type & Sleeping Position:
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |
Lightweight (< 130 lbs): | 5 | 5 | 4 |
Average-weight (130–230 lbs): | 5 | 4 | 5 |
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs): | 5 | 4 | 5 |
WinkBeds EcoCloud Performance By Body Type & Sleeping Position:
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |
Lightweight (< 130 lbs): | 5 | 4 | 3 |
Average-weight (130–230 lbs): | 5 | 4 | 4 |
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs): | 4 | 3 | 4 |
With its contouring memory foam and zoned support coils, the luxury-firm WinkBed should accommodate average-weight back, stomach, side, and combination sleepers nicely. Average-weight sleepers of all types should also fare well on the EcoCloud, thanks to its combination of coil and latex support.
Heavyweight back, stomach, side, and combination sleepers will find the right balance of cradling support and responsiveness with the luxury-firm or plus mattress options but should avoid the softer comfort levels. Otherwise, they may find themselves sinking in too deeply for the necessary spinal support.
The EcoCloud will accommodate heavyweight side, back, and combination sleepers. However, heavyweight stomach sleepers may not find the deep support they need to keep their hips elevated.
Lightweight back sleepers will be comfortably supported on the softer WinkBed options. Stomach sleepers in the lighter weight range, however, will probably do better on the firmer mattress. Lightweight side sleepers should find sufficient pressure relief with the softer WinkBed, while combination sleepers should find the luxury-firm pick has the responsive feel they need to comfortably change positions at night.
The EcoCloud is a good pick for lightweight back and stomach sleepers, but some lightweight sleepers may not be heavy enough to sink down deeply enough to support the spine’s natural curve. Combination sleepers in this weight range should consider the positions they move between. Those who spend time on their stomach may want to consider a different mattress.
The WinkBed and the EcoCloud have a similar hybrid construction, though the comfort layer materials are different. The 13.5” WinkBed is made with gel-infused foam, while the 12.5” EcoCloud uses Talalay latex.
WinkBed Mattress Materials | WinkBeds EcoCloud Mattress Materials |
TENCEL cover | Organic cotton cover with New Zealand wool |
Euro pillow-top with gel-infused foam | Talalay latex |
Pocketed coils | Zoned pocketed coils |
Both mattresses have soft covers designed to wick away moisture. The WinkBed cover is made of TENCEL, a fabric derived from eucalyptus. The EcoCloud uses organic cotton and wool.
The comfort layer in the WinkBed mattress is gel-infused foam. This material is both cooling and supportive to the lumbar region. In the EcoCloud, four inches of Talalay latex divided into two layers offer pressure relief and temperature regulation.
Both mattresses have a durable layer of individually-wrapped coils designed to promote airflow and deliver targeted support for proper spinal alignment. In the EcoCloud, strategic zones with higher-gauge coils offer more support in the lower back.

The WinkBed is designed for cooler sleep, thanks to gel-infused foam and the breathable innerspring layer. In the EcoCloud, latex is naturally temperature regulating, and the innerspring layer promotes air circulation. Both mattresses are a good option if you tend to overheat at night.
Neither mattress scores particularly well in the motion transfer category. While they’re both supportive and comfortable, the WinkBed and the EcoCloud have quite a bit of motion transfer. If you or your partner is easily disturbed by tossing and turning in the night, you should probably look elsewhere.
The edge support in both the Winkbed and the EcoCloud is excellent. That’s due to the extra supportive perimeter coils in the support layers of both mattresses. In the WinkBed, high-density foam can also be credited for its superior edge support.
Pressure relief will vary depending on its firmness and the sleeper’s body weight and sleep position. Softer WinkBed options, for example, may give side sleepers a little pressure on the hips and shoulders.
Despite its latex layer, EcoCloud isn’t the best pick for pressure relief, either, with the exception of heavyweight sleepers. They’ll likely sink into the mattress enough to experience sufficient pressure relief, while lightweight sleepers would probably only benefit from that if they sleep on their backs.
The firmer WinkBed mattresses are a great pick for back pain relief, but the softer options may not be supportive enough for all sleepers. On the EcoCloud, latex is buoyant and supportive, and the zoned innerspring system offers support right where you need it, which may minimize aches and pains.
These mattresses can be expected to perform well for seven to ten years in the case of the WinkBed and even longer for the EcoCloud. That’s thanks to the hybrid construction and the quality materials, including high-density foams and all-natural cotton, wool, and latex.
The WinkBed comes with free shipping and returns. It has a 120-night trial window and a lifetime warranty.
Just like the original WinkBed, the EcoCloud has free shipping and returns. You can test it out at home with a 120-night trial window, and it has a lifetime warranty if issues come up.

The WinkBed is the brand’s flagship mattress, and it’s a great mid-range hybrid. With four options to choose from, there really is a mattress for everyone. Combination sleepers in particular will find it responsive, and hot sleepers will enjoy its cooling features.
For hot sleepers who also prioritize sustainability, the EcoCloud is the better option. But keep in mind that side sleepers and lightweight sleepers could find it too firm, while stomach sleepers in higher weight ranges could find it too soft.
The WinkBeds EcoCloud is an organic mattress made with natural, non-toxic materials. Latex, organic cotton, recycled steel, and New Zealand wool make it an environmentally-friendly pick for shoppers who prioritize sustainability. Plus, it has certifications from OEKO-TEX, the Global Organic Textile Standard, the Rainforest Alliance, and more.
The WinkBeds EcoCloud mattress has a hybrid construction that measures 12.5 inches in height. It has a generous four-inch layer of Talalay latex over a sturdy innerspring support layer, as well as a cover made with organic cotton and wool sourced in New Zealand.
Mattresses from WinkBeds shouldn’t have issues with sagging, thanks to the hybrid construction and durable materials. WinkBeds mattresses also have impressive edge support, which is a good indicator of durability. However, plus-size shoppers should opt for the mattress firmness designed to accommodate heavier weights to minimize the risk of sagging.
