Layla vs. Nectar Overview
In this section, we are going to differentiate which mattress suits best for various types of sleepers who are seeking for a reliable bed in the market.
Layla is best for… | Nectar is best for… |
Sleepers looking for versatility | Sleepers seeking a responsive mattress |
Side sleepers | Heavyweight sleepers |
Side sleepers | Sleepers seeking edge support |
Who Should Choose the Layla Mattress?
- Sleepers looking for versatility: Sleepers who are looking for versatility and comfort may prefer the Layla mattress. The Layla is designed to have the firmness, support, and durability of a traditional innerspring mattress, but with the added benefits of memory foam.
- Side sleepers: Side sleepers may prefer the Layla mattress because it’s designed to keep their hips, shoulders, and spine in alignment.
- Couples: Couples who prefer Layla mattresses care about comfort and convenience. The mattress is designed to be soft enough for one person’s needs, but firm enough to accommodate two people without compromising the other’s experience.
Who Should Choose the Nectar Mattress?
- Sleepers seeking a responsive mattress: Sleepers who are looking for a responsive mattress may prefer Nectar because it has a cooling gel-infused foam that reduces pressure points and contours to your body.
- Heavyweight sleepers: Heavyweight sleepers may prefer Nectar mattresses because they offer a high-density memory foam layer that provides profound pressure relief and contours well to the body.
- Sleepers seeking edge support: Sleepers seeking edge support may prefer the Nectar mattress because it’s made with a unique foam that supports all the way to the edges of the bed, so you won’t feel like you’re sinking into a hole when you roll over in bed.

Layla vs. Nectar: Top Similarities
- Feel: Both mattresses contour to the body, meaning they cradle the joints and offer pressure relief.
- Warranty: Each is backed by a Lifetime warranty and ships for free to the contiguous U.S.
- Temperature: Both mattresses feature temperature-regulating materials, making them good cooling mattresses for beds with an all-foam construction.
Layla vs. Nectar: Top Differences
- Firmness level: The Nectar is a traditional memory foam mattress, while the Layla can be flipped for a different firmness level.
- Trial period: The Nectar comes with a 365-night sleep trial, while the Layla comes with a 120-night trial.
- Feel: Layla’s soft foam feel makes it better for side sleepers, and Nectar’s denser foam feel makes it better for strict back and stomach sleepers.
Layla vs. Nectar: Firmness & Feel Differences
In this section, we’ll review the firmness and feel differences between the Layla and Nectar mattresses to help you choose which one best fits your needs.
What’s the Firmness of the Layla & Nectar Mattresses?
The Nectar falls into the medium-soft to medium-firm category with a firmness rating of 6/10. For back sleepers or individuals experiencing back pain. However, combination sleepers are likely to prefer a mattress with less sinkage because it is difficult to switch positions on the Nectar. On the other hand, Layla received a score of 5.5/10, placing it in the medium-soft category. Its three-inch top layer of copper-infused memory foam works to contour the shoulder, hips, and lower back for a memory foam “hug” that relieves pressure at the joints and should be comfortable for side sleepers.
What Do the Layla & Nectar Mattresses Feel Like?
The Layla seems more like airy, fluffy, and soft memory foam in terms of feel. Additionally, it ranks highly in terms of easing hip and back pain. While the Nectar is about a medium-firm mattress on the firmness scale, it feels more like a dense, firm memory foam. This configuration makes it suitable for most body types and sleeping positions, but it outperforms Layla for strict back sleepers and stomach sleepers. Some lightweight sleepers (<130 lbs.) may find the Nectar too firm, regardless of their sleeping position.
What’s It Like to Sleep On the Layla & Nectar Mattresses?
The Layla mattress is designed to give you the support of a traditional memory foam mattress with the pressure-relieving comfort of high-quality latex foam. It’s great for people who sleep on their backs, stomachs, or sides and works well for couples. Meanwhile, the Nectar mattress is designed to offer you the best of both worlds: it combines a high-density polyfoam base layer with a quilted top layer made from gel-infused memory foam. This combination provides support and pressure relief for people who sleep on their backs, stomachs, as well as couples.
The Layla vs. Nectar Mattresses By Body Type
Layla Performance By Body Type & Sleeping Position:
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |
Lightweight (< 130 lbs): | 3 | 4 | 4 |
Average-weight (130–230 lbs): | 3 | 4 | 4 |
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs): | 3 | 2 | 4 |
Nectar Performance By Body Type & Sleeping Position:
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |
Lightweight (< 130 lbs): | 4 | 4 | 4 |
Average-weight (130–230 lbs): | 5 | 3 | 3 |
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs): | 4 | 2 | 3 |
1 = Very poor, 2 = Not good, 3 = Fair, 4 = Good, 5 = Excellent
Average-Weight Sleepers (130–230 lbs)
Back sleepers of average weight will generally prefer the Nectar mattress to either side of the Layla mattress. The Nectar, which is closer to medium-firm, should offer the right amount of comfort and support for back sleepers of average weight. The Nectar may provide adequate pressure relief for average weight side sleepers, but not nearly as well as the Layla. Additionally, the firm side of the Layla mattress and the Nectar mattress might provide sufficient support for stomach sleepers.
Heavyweight Sleepers (> 230 lbs)
The Nectar should provide adequate support for heavyweight back sleepers, but Layla’s firm side should be more accommodating. They will weigh enough for their hips to comfortably sink into the mattress. On Layla’s plush side, side sleepers should experience greater pressure relief. Furthermore, neither mattress will likely provide enough support for stomach sleepers in this weight range.
Lightweight Sleepers (< 130 lbs)
Lightweight back sleepers may feel comfortable on the Layla mattress’s soft side, but they will undoubtedly find the firm side too firm. They should, however, have a better balance of comfort and support on the Nectar mattress between the two. On the other hand, side sleepers should also like the Layla and Nectar mattresses’ soft sides. And lastly, both mattresses should provide good general support for stomach sleepers in this weight range.
Differences In Mattress Construction
Acquiring knowledge of the differences between Layla and Nectar’s mattress construction can help you distinguish which bed fits your needs best.
Layla Mattress Materials | Nectar Mattress Materials |
Soft side: 3” copper-infused memory foam; Firm side: 1” copper-infused memory foam | 2” gel memory foam |
Soft side: 2” convoluted polyfoam Firm side: N/A | 4” high-density memory foam |
4.5” high-density polyfoam | 6” high-density polyfoam |
10″ | 12″ |
Cover
The Layla has a soft cover with cooling breathable fabrics. It is designed to remove heat from your body and is cool to the touch. A comparable 2” gel memory foam cover with cooling qualities can also be found on the Nectar.
Comfort Layers
A layer of soft, pressure-relieving memory foam with copper infusion is present on the Layla mattress’s hard and soft sides, which helps prevent body heat from being trapped in the memory foam. Meanwhile, the comfort layer of the Nectar mattress also has gel memory foam to aid in cooling and is excellent in relieving pressure.
Support Layers
The difference lies in the density and thickness of these polyfoam layers. The 4.5” Layla has a higher density than the 6” Nectar, which means it offers more support for your body when you sleep.

Layla vs. Nectar Mattress Performance Ratings & Differences
For each section, we’ll describe how the Layla and Nectar mattresses differ in terms of performance (temperature, motion transfer, edge support, pressure relief, pain relief, and durability).
Temperature
Layla’s copper-infused memory foam sleeps cooler than standard memory foam, and its transitional polyfoam layer encourages air to circulate on the softer side. The Nectar’s lyocell cover and gel memory foam offers more breathability than many competing memory foam models.
Motion Transfer
The Layla and Nectar have slower response times from the thicker foam comfort layers, making them a great option for sleepers who are easily disturbed by movements on the bed’s surface from a partner, pet, or co-sleeping child.
Edge Support
If you have problems getting in and out of bed or are worried about general durability and longevity, this is a mattress quality to consider. Although the Nectar and Layla won’t necessarily sink to the point where you’ll roll off the bed in the middle of the night, if you sit on the bed’s borders (especially Layla’s soft side), you might notice significant sinkage.
Pressure Relief
Both the Layla and Nectar have layers of memory foam in the comfort sections of the bed, and the Nectar has memory foam in its transitional layer. The soft side of the Layla has a deep, sinking feeling that many side sleepers love. The firm side of the Layla and the Nectar will provide less physical sinking, but both beds still contour to pressure points and provide relief for pain throughout the body, making them both good mattresses for back sleepers.
Pain Relief
The Nectar and Layla mattresses have a lot to offer in terms of pain relief, but they differ in their approach. The Nectar mattress is designed with a contouring memory foam layer that relieves pressure points and supports your entire body. The Layla mattress also uses memory foam, but it has a firmer base of support that provides more support for heavier people and those who need more stability.
Durability
The Layla and the Nectar are on par with other memory foam mattresses regarding durability. The average mattress lasts seven to 10 years, and these beds are expected to last anywhere from six to eight years.

Our Final Take
Each of these memory foam beds are well-suited for different body types and feel preferences. If a flippable memory foam bed with a soft, plush memory foam feel sounds appealing to you, or if you’re a lightweight strict side sleeper, we recommend the Layla. If you’re looking for a bed with a firmness level that’s more suited for back and stomach sleeping positions, and you don’t like the feel of sinking deeply into your mattress, we recommend the firmer Nectar mattress.
Layla & Nectar FAQs
Which mattress offers better performance?
Choosing between these two excellent mattresses will depend on your sleeping preferences. Check out the Layla if you want alternatives for firmness or like to sleep on your side. The Nectar is the best option if you prefer a medium-firm mattress and prefer sleeping on your back.
How long do the Layla and Nectar mattresses last?
The high-quality materials used for Layla and Nectar mattresses make them long-lasting. The combination of new technology, unique design, and durable materials makes these mattresses durable. This means you won’t have to worry about replacing your mattress for at least 7 to 10 years after purchase!
Are both mattresses flippable?
The Nectar mattress is not reversible, but the Layla mattress is. This means that you can flip the Layla mattress over and then have two different firmnesses for your bed—a firmer side and a softer side that you can choose from, depending on your preferences.
