Avocado is known for its all-natural and firm hybrid beds. So, if you’re in the market for a natural latex mattress with a supportive feel, read on to learn more about the pros and cons of the Avocado Green and the Avocado Eco Organic.
Avocado Green vs. Avocado Eco Organic Overview
Both of these hybrid Avocado beds are made from natural materials including wool, cotton, latex, and pocketed coils. Still, the Green is a bit more dense, offering more support for side sleepers and motion isolation for couples. On the other hand, the Eco Organic is more affordable and pressure relieving.

Who Should Choose the Avocado Green Mattress?
- Couples—If you’re a light sleeper, sharing a mattress with your partner can mean sharing their tossing and turning as well. This is called motion transfer, and, if you’re looking to reduce it, the Avocado Green’s thicker construction is the better choice in between the two.
- Back sleepers—Back sleepers tend to need their spines aligned in their natural curves, and the Avocado Green’s medium-firm but supportive feel will be ideal.
- Shoppers wanting customizations—Customizations are a great way to make your new mattress truly yours. While the Avocado Eco Organic is sold as is, the Avocado Green comes with an optional latex foam pillow top as well as a vegan option too.
Who Should Choose the Avocado Eco Organic Mattress?
- Budget shoppers—The Avocado Green may have a few more bells and whistles, but the Avocado Eco Organic is more budget-friendly. If you’re looking to save on your next organic bed, keep in mind that a Queen-size Eco Organic costs about $1,000, whereas a Queen-size Avocado Green will cost you about $1,600.
- Stomach sleepers—If you’re a stomach sleeper, then you’ll likely need plenty of support to keep your hips from sinking, and your back from being misaligned as a result. Although both of these mattresses actually have the same firmness, the Eco Organic still offers more elevation.
- Combination sleepers—Similar to stomach sleepers, combination sleepers do best on beds that they can really sleep on top of. With this in mind, the Eco Organic’s more solid feel works great for combination sleepers who switch sleeping positions throughout the night.

Avocado Green vs. Avocado Eco Organic: Top Similarities
- Firmness—Regardless of whether you’re team Green or team Eco Organic, you’re getting the same firmness level either way. We’ll go into more detail on what exactly that means below, but both of these Avocado beds have a medium-firm feel.
- Construction—There’s no surprise that two organic, hybrid beds made by the same company will have similar constructions. Both are latex mattresses, so with either of these Avocado beds, you’ll find common materials like latex foam, cotton and wool, and pocketed coils.
- Back sleeping—Stomach sleepers and side sleepers may have different experiences in each Avocado bed, but back sleepers really win either way. The Avocado Green and the Avocado Eco Organic both provide an ideal balance of firmness and pressure relief for back sleepers of all sizes.
Avocado Green vs. Avocado Eco Organic: Top Differences
- Policies—These Avocado beds have a lot in common, but, surprisingly, policies actually aren’t one of those things. Despite both being made by the same company, the Avocado Green comes with a longer trial and a longer warranty as well.
- Edge support—In addition to being a more lifted mattress, the Avocado Eco Organic also provides firmer edge support. This means that you’ll experience less sagging when sitting or lying along the perimeter of this mattress.
- Motion isolation—On the other hand, the Avocado Green’s thicker and softer design does make for better motion isolation. For couples who share a mattress, this means a quieter night’s sleep.
Avocado Green vs. Avocado Eco Organic: Firmness & Feel Differences
Those are the biggest pros and cons of each mattress from a bird’s eye view. Now, let’s get more in detail about how the Avocado Green and the Avocado Eco Organic actually feel.
What’s the Firmness Of the Avocado Green & Avocado Eco Organic Mattresses?
Here at Mattress Nerd, we track mattress firmness on a simple scale of 1–10, where a “1” is softer than an overripe avocado and a “10” is firmer than bricks. So, with that in mind, we found that the Avocado Green and the Avocado Eco Organic both clock in at a firmness level of 7/10 on our scale.
This level of firmness corresponds to a medium-firm feel, which is ideal for most sleepers. However, some heavyweight sleepers may prefer more firmness, and some lighter sleepers may need more softness. For sleepers needing more softness, the Avocado Green’s optional pillow top changes the bed’s firmness to a softer 5/10.
What Do the Avocado Green & Avocado Eco Organic Mattresses Feel Like?
The Avocado Green and the Eco Organic are both firm and supportive beds, but the Eco Organic is noticeably more lifted and cooling too. On the other hand, the denser Avocado Green feels a bit more pressure-relieving and plush.
What’s It Like to Sleep On the Avocado Green & Avocado Eco Organic Mattresses?
Back sleepers will get ideal sleeping performance on either of these Avocado beds, but the same isn’t true for stomach sleepers and side sleepers. While side sleepers could go with either bed depending on their body type, stomach sleepers will generally prefer the more lifted Avocado Eco Organic.
The Avocado Green vs. Avocado Eco Organic Mattresses By Body Type
Avocado Green Performance By Body Type & Sleeping Position:
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |
Lightweight (< 130 lbs): | 5 | 4 | 3 |
Average-weight (130–230 lbs): | 5 | 3 | 5 |
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs): | 5 | 2 | 5 |
Avocado Eco Organic Original Performance By Body Type & Sleeping Position:
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |
Lightweight (< 130 lbs): | 5 | 5 | 4 |
Average-weight (130–230 lbs): | 5 | 5 | 4 |
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs): | 5 | 4 | 5 |
1 = Very poor, 2 = Not good, 3 = Fair, 4 = Good, 5 = Excellent
Average-Weight Sleepers (130–230 lbs)
For average-weight back sleepers, the Avocado Green and the Avocado Eco Organic both offer exceptional performance. However, average-weight stomach sleepers will prefer the Avocado Eco Organic’s more lifted feel by a lot, while side sleepers will slightly prefer the Green’s more plush feel.
Heavyweight Sleepers (> 230 lbs)
Moving on to heavyweight sleepers who generally prefer more firmness, back sleepers won’t have to choose between either mattress. However, heavyweight stomach sleepers will also significantly prefer the Eco Organic’s lifted feel, although they could still do with even more firmness. Finally, for heavyweight side sleepers, both the Green and the Eco Organic are ideal.
Lightweight Sleepers (< 130 lbs)
Last, but not least, lightweight sleepers generally do best on softer beds. With this in mind, lightweight side sleepers won’t necessarily get an ideal sleeping experience on either of these medium-firm beds, but the Eco Organic offers better pressure relief to this weight category. For back sleepers, again, the Avocado Green and the Eco Organic are both ideal choices. But, finally, for stomach sleepers, the Eco Organic’s more firm feel still wins out here.
Differences In Mattress Construction
The Avocado Green and the Avocado Eco Organic are both organic mattresses that use many of the same materials. However, there are a few notable differences between these two beds. Firstly, the Green is 13” tall (11” without optional pillowtop), while the Eco Organic is 10” tall. Furthermore, the Green includes additional latex in its base layers, making it slightly more durable.

Comfort Layers
Getting deeper into these two natural beds, the Green and the Eco Organic both feature organic latex foam in their comfort layers. This material offers a cooling and contouring but bouncy feel that’s great for firm mattress fans who still enjoy having a pressure relieving bed.
Support Layers
Next up, since these two mattresses are both hybrids, you’ll find a set of individually-wrapped pocketed coils at their bases. However, it’s worth noting that only the Avocado Green offers zoned support in its coils and an additional layer of supportive Dunlop latex below.

Avocado Green vs. Avocado Eco Organic Mattress Performance Ratings & Differences
Temperature
Both of these Avocado mattresses offer ideal temperature control, thanks to their organic and breathable materials. If you’re someone who struggles with overheating or sweating at night, these two Avocado beds are about as cooling as hybrid mattresses tend to be, plus the addition of latex foam, which is naturally cool.
Motion Transfer
We touched on motion transfer earlier, but the Avocado Green is going to be the right choice for any couples looking to reduce it. Although bouncy and responsive beds like these Avocado hybrids generally aren’t the most motion-isolating, the Green’s thicker design does offer more muffling.
Edge Support
Edge support is how well your bed supports weight along its perimeters, and without sagging or warping too. This feature can be especially important for couples who like to spread out, or for seniors with mobility concerns. With this in mind, the Avocado Eco Organic’s more lifted feels offers stronger edge support than the Avocado Green.
Pressure Relief
Both of these Avocados offer top-of-the-line pressure relief, especially for being firmer beds. However, we did see pressure buildup in the shoulders of lightweight side sleepers on the Avocado Green, so the Eco Organic wins in the pressure relief category, but not by much.
Pain Relief
If you struggle with pain while sleeping, it’s essential to consider your body type and preferred sleeping position when mattress shopping. When it comes to the Avocado Green and the Eco Organic, however, both of these beds are ideal for back pain relief.
Durability
Avocado is known for its durable and high-quality mattresses, so you shouldn’t have any issues with either of these beds. Still, the Avocado Green is a thicker bed that offers more Zoned Support at its base than the Eco Organic. The only point against the Green is that its edge support isn’t the best compared to the Eco Organic.
