The amount of support around a mattress’s perimeter can make or break your experience with a mattress. A bed with supportive edges means you can get out of bed easier, sleep there without fear of falling off, and allows couples to have some space from each other.
The Eco Organic provides great edge support. There is definitely more support when you lie down compared to sitting on the edge, so we gave it a 4/5.
Responsiveness
Responsiveness refers to how easy it is to move around on the mattress. If you switch sleeping positions at night, it will be a huge factor for you. Avocado is made with bouncy, responsive materials, so you shouldn’t have an issue changing position on this bed.
Motion Isolation: Is it good for those who share a bed?
Sleeping with a partner, pet, or child can have you walking up from their movements: this is called motion transfer, and it is not what we want. A bed that isolates motion well keeps movement on one side of the bed.Because the Avocado has bouncy layers, it does not isolate motion very well. Noise
Even with a system of steel coils, we didn’t notice any noise on the Eco Organic.
Pain Relief
A lot of mattress-related pain stems from alignment issues. If your mattress isn’t keeping your spine in proper alignment, it can cause back pain. The Avocado mattress provides excellent spinal alignment, making it one of the best mattresses for back pain.

Off-gassing refers to the strong smell you may experience after unboxing. This odor usually results from packing foam into plastic. Since the Avocado has natural materials, you should notice a sweet smell, that’s not unpleasant, that should dissipate in a few hours.
Durability
Latex and coil mattresses are among the most durable, so you should expect this bed to last you eight to 10 years. We gave it a 4.5/5 for durability because the edges are not reinforced, and may break down quicker.
Avocado Eco Organic Mattress Construction: What’s it made of?
As you may be able to tell from the name, the Avocado Eco Organic is made with natural and organic materials.
Organic Cotton Cover: This cover is made from pure white organic wool. The tufts allow the cover to stay together without using a non-organic adhesive.
Wool Fire Barrier: Next, is a layer of wool that acts as a fire barrier. If you are vegan, and want your mattress to be too, Avocado has a version of this bed without the wool.
Organic Latex Foam: This top comfort layer is made of dunlop latex, which is more dense and durable than talalay. Latex foam is naturally breathable and cooling. For some extra cushion, you can opt to add a pillow top for an additional fee.
Pocketed Coil Support Layer: Avocado has 1,414 coils that are zoned. That means you get a ton of support and bounce and durability. Plus, the zones make sure your body is always aligned.

Your Avocado mattress ships free to the contiguous and should arrive at your door in a box in three to seven business days. White glove delivery and in-home setup is available, but the cost varies depending on the weight of your mattress.

Smell
Some reviewers have complained that the Avocado has an earthy smell. We would have to agree with this—due to the natural and organic materials. Be sure to let your mattress breathe for a few hours after unboxing, and the smell should naturally dissipate.
Firmness
There have been customer complaints that the Avocado mattress is too firm and also some that say it’s not firm enough. The firmness level you feel has a lot to do with your body type and sleeping position. For the average sleepers, the Eco Organic mattress is a 7/10. Heavier sleepers will feel it as softer, so it’s best for heavyweight back and side sleepers. Light people will feel it as firmer, so it’s best for lightweight back and stomach sleepers.
