Helix designed the bed to provide side sleeper support for petite body types, but average-weight sleepers who enjoy a very plush feel may find it comfortable as well. However, the Dusk is designed to feel more like neutral foam as opposed to the Midnight’s memory foam feel. Helix achieves this by placing its responsive, supportive Helix Dynamic Foam on top of the Dusk. Here at Mattress Nerd, we classify lightweight sleepers as weighing < 130 lbs, while average-weight sleepers are between 130–230 lbs, and heavyweight sleepers weigh over 230 lbs. All six Helix standard mattresses feature a polyester cover, a transitional layer of Helix Dynamic Foam and 8” pocketed coils over a high-density base layer. The main difference between the six beds is in the comfort layers, which contain either memory foam or Helix’s proprietary latex-like foam, depending on the model. Because the construction is fairly similar, each bed’s firmness level and top foam layer are the most important factors when considering whether it will work for you. In general, Helix’s softer mattresses (the Sunset and Moonlight) are well-suited for lightweight sleepers, and the medium Midnight and Dusk models are popular among average-weight sleepers. The firmer Twilight and Dawn beds work for some heavyweight individuals and for average-weight sleepers who like firm mattresses. If pressure relief is your top priority, we recommend choosing a model with a memory foam comfort layer to provide relief to joints like the elbows, shoulders, and neck. If you need a mattress that supports your lower back, choose one that has a firmer feel. If you sleep with a partner and are concerned about being awoken by their movement throughout the night, motion isolation is worth some extra consideration. The firmness level and construction of each Helix model will determine each bed’s motion isolation capabilities. Across the board, the Helix beds with memory foam (the Sunset, Midnight, and Twilight) absorb more motion than those with bouncier Helix Dynamic Foam (Moonlight, Dusk, and Dawn). And as a rule, softer mattresses also absorb more motion than firmer, more responsive options. The standard Helix mattress models share a similar construction, but feel a little different because of varying materials and firmness levels. Those with a memory foam top layer will provide better pressure point relief and body contouring. Those with Helix Dynamic Foam top layers will have better responsiveness. You can expect to sink deeper into the softer mattress models, while resting “on top” of the firmer models. When deciding which Helix mattress is the best fit, consider the firmness level and materials that best align with your sleeping position, body type, and comfort preferences. For example, the medium-soft Helix Sunset is best for side sleepers of any body type who prefer the conforming feel of memory foam. In contrast, the extra firm Helix Dawn is best for back and stomach sleepers who like a more buoyant, supportive feel. All new mattresses from Helix ship as a bed-in-a-box and typically arrive within 7 to 14 business days. Customers may notice a slight odor when they first unbox their Helix mattress, especially if it’s one of the models that contains memory foam. Still, any off-gassing odor should dissipate within one to three days. Helix Sleep offers a 100-night sleep trial period when you purchase a mattress from its standard line. Like many other mattress companies, Helix requests that consumers keep the mattress for at least 30 nights before initiating a return. It typically takes the body 30 nights to adjust to a new mattress. If you’re not satisfied with the mattress, you can return it for a full refund or request a mattress topper from Helix at no additional cost. There are several reasons why a mattress might seem to sleep hot for certain people. They use quality materials to make a standard and upgraded Luxe mattress model for every firmness preference. They also offer free shipping, an industry-standard 100-night trial period, and 10–15 year warranties.
