Adjustable bases are a great addition to any bedroom. They allow you to customize your sleep, whether that be to relieve pain, stop snoring, or lie in an oddly comfortable position. The Nectar Adjustable Bed Frame boasts a five-star sleep experience, and well, I’ll be the judge of that. This review will go over everything the Nectar base has to offer compared to its competitors.

Nectar Adjustable Bed: Special Features

Now let’s get into what you came here for: to really see what this base has to offer. Nectar has a number of special capabilities and features. I’ll give a brief summary of each and discuss how it operates.

Compatibility

We did test this base with a Nectar mattress on this frame, but that’s not necessary: The adjustable base will work with your current mattress, as long as that mattress is adjustable-base friendly. Be sure to check your current mattress’s warranty to find out if it’s suited for an adjustable bed frame or if you need to get a new bed. If you fall into the latter category, we do have a list of the best mattresses for adjustable beds to give you a jumping-off point.

This base also has adjustable legs, so you can pick the ideal bed height for you.

Zero Gravity

Nectar comes with a number of presets. When you push the button the base will automatically assume that position. First up: the Zero Gravity feature—my personal favorite thing about an adjustable base. This helps take pressure off of your body, by lifting both the head and feet in a specific position.

Anti-Snore

There is also a setting for if you or your partner snores. Pressing the anti-snore button lifts the chest to take pressure off of the airway and prevent snoring. The one big con about this feature is that the only split size option is a Split King. If you and your partner sleep on a Queen and one of you snores, you’re both going to have to lie in the anti-snoring position.

Massage

If you’re looking for a stand-out, 5-star feature, it’s gonna be the massage feature. So if you’re an athlete or suffer from pain, this is gonna be your favorite part—I’m calling it now. You can just massage the head, just massage the feet, or massage both the head and feet simultaneously. There’s even a timer button if you want your bed to rock you to sleep.

How Do the Policies Measure Up?

Shipping & Unboxing

The Nectar Adjustable Bed Frame ships free to the continental U.S. There is a $150 fee for shipping to Alaska and Hawaii. You do have to set it up yourself, but assembly is fairly easy—screw in the legs, attach the bar, and plug it in.

Warranty

The Nectar Bed Frame comes with a surprisingly short three-year warranty. For reference, most adjustable bases have at least a 10-year warranty. Nectar’s warranty covers workmanship defects. It does not cover damage resulting from malfunctions, so be kind to your sleep tech.

Trial Period & Returns

Typically, adjustable bases are final sale—no returns or exchanges. That is what’s a little special about Nectar; you can try it out for 50 nights before making a full commitment. During this timeframe, make sure you enjoy all of the features the adjustable bed frame has to offer. If you don’t like it, you can return it for a full refund.

Addressing Nectar Adjustable Bed Complaints

  • Long delivery times: A few 1-star reviews complained that it took a very long time for the base to arrive (about two to three weeks). If you buy, make sure to stay in contact with Nectar’s customer service team throughout your order.
  • Malfunctions: A few reviewers complained of malfunctioning units. Customer service should be able to help you with this issue. Just know that any damage resulting from a malfunctioning unit is not covered under your warranty.

The Nerd’s Take: What’s the Bottom Line?

So, bottom line: Is the Nectar Adjustable Frame five-star? It comes pretty close. Nectar has just about all the bells and whistles that adjustable bases can offer, just short of under-bed lighting. Just know that you only have a three-year warranty, so be kind to your sleep tech.

FAQs

Can the Nectar mattress be used on an adjustable base?

You can use the Nectar mattress on an adjustable base. In fact, when we tested out the adjustable bed frame, we used the Nectar Original mattress, and it worked just fine. According to the brand, all three Nectar mattresses (the OG, the Premier, and the Premier Copper) are adjustable-base compatible. This includes both the foam and hybrid versions.

How much weight can the Nectar Adjustable Base hold?

A Queen-size Nectar Adjustable Base can hold up to 1,000 pounds of weight, or 500 pounds of weight on either side. Be aware that this weight calculation does include the mattress. All-foam mattresses are going to weigh less than hybrid mattresses. Regardless, this weight limit should suit people of all body types.

What is the best frame for an adjustable bed?

The best frame for an adjustable bed is a platform bed frame with very few slats. The legs of the adjustable base need to fit comfortably around your existing bed frame. However, the easiest way to use an adjustable base is by itself without a box spring, bed frame, or additional base. A good adjustable bed supports the mattress and moves efficiently.

What are the disadvantages of an adjustable base?

There are a few disadvantages of adjustable bases; first off, they are almost always final sale, and it’s hard to find a brand that offers a return policy (Nectar does though!). Next, unless you cough up the money for a Split Queen, King, or Cal King, whatever your partner sets the base to, you have to sleep with that setting as well. Finally, adjustable bases can be hard for seniors and older people to set up.

Can a mattress be too thick for an adjustable bed?

A mattress can be too thick for an adjustable base. The ideal height for a mattress on an adjustable base is 9”–13”. Anything taller than 13” could keep your mattress from bending and moving with the base, or even fitting inside the end bar that keeps the mattress from sliding off.

Nectar Serenity Weighted Blanket

The Nectar Serenity Sleep blanket is one of the best weighted blankets for multi-seasonal use. The cooling side of the cover is genuinely cooling, and the warming side keeps you warm without overheating. The stiffness of the inner blanket detracts from its overall coziness, but it’s still worth your attention.
