While the Nolah Original and TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid mattresses have many similarities but come at drastically different price points. Which one is right for you? We used our testing methodology to break down how these products compare.
Nolah vs. TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid Overview
The Nolah Original is a medium-firm, all-foam mattress that’s a great fit for side sleepers in search of pressure relief. The TEMPUR-Cloud is a breathable hybrid mattress that also offers good pressure relief.
Nolah is best for… | TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid is best for… |
Sleepers with pressure points and aches | Sleepers with back pain |
Back sleepers | Back sleepers |
Sleepers with a larger budget | Hot sleepers |
Who Should Choose the Nolah Mattress?
- Sleepers looking for pressure point relief. If you’re a back or side sleeper who could use some pressure relief, the Nolah’s medium-firm feel is for you.
- Back sleepers. The level of support and cushioning offered by the Nolah is a good fit for back sleepers.
- Shoppers with a smaller budget. The Nolah comes at a lower price point than the TEMPUR-Cloud, so if you’re looking for a high-quality yet affordable mattress, the Nolah is your better bet.
Who Should Choose the TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid Mattress?
- Sleepers with back pain. The hybrid construction of the TEMPUR-Cloud makes it a great fit for people who have back pain.
- Back sleepers. The TEMPUR-Cloud’s hybrid combination of firmness and cushioning makes it a good fit for all back sleepers.
- Hot sleepers. The coils in the TEMPUR-Cloud help air circulate so you won’t get too hot while asleep.
Nolah vs. TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid: Top Similarities
- Firmness level. Both the Nolah Original and TEMPUR-Cloud clock in at a 6/10 on our firmness scale. That means they’re both medium-firm mattresses.
- Breathability. The Nolah and TEMPUR-Cloud are both made with breathable materials, making them a good fit for people who sleep hot.
Nolah vs. TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid: Top Differences
- Materials. The Nolah Original is a memory foam mattress, but the TEMPUR-Cloud is a hybrid bed that has coils as well as foam.
- Combination sleepers. The Nolah is a good fit for all combination sleepers because it’s so responsive. But the TEMPUR-Cloud is not — you might get bogged down in the layers of foam.
- Pain relief. Since the TEMPUR-Cloud is a hybrid bed, it provides better support and pain relief than the Nolah.
Nolah vs. TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid: Firmness & Feel Differences
The Nolah Original is medium-firm. Tempur-Pedic mattresses come in multiple different firmness options, with the TEMPUR-Cloud also considered medium-firm.
What’s the Firmness Of the Nolah & TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid Mattresses?
The Nolah Original is considered a medium-firm mattress (6/10). It’s ideal for side sleepers who want pressure relief for their hips and shoulders. However, if you are a stomach sleeper (particularly a heavyweight sleeper), you will probably want something firmer to support your hips.
Tempur-Pedic carries mattresses that fall into several different categories. At 6/10, the TEMPUR-Cloud is most comparable to the Nolah. If you’d like a softer mattress, choose the LuxeBreeze, LuxeAdapt, or ProAdapt. Heavyweight sleepers may need something extra firm such as the ProAdapt, LuxeAdapt, or LuxeBreeze in Firm.
What Do the Nolah & TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid Mattresses Feel Like?
The Nolah mattress is an all-foam mattress. It has great pressure relief and does a good job of balancing cushion and support.
The Tempur-Pedic mattress is also made of memory foam (if you’re looking for a hybrid bed, choose the TEMPUR-Cloud). It offers the traditional sinking-sand feeling of memory foam beds, and also has good pressure relief and spinal support.
What’s It Like to Sleep On the Nolah & TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid Mattresses?
The Nolah mattress is best suited for side sleepers. It does a good job of offering dual support and cushioning for your shoulders and hips. If you’re a back or stomach sleeper, however, you will likely feel as if you’re sinking too far into this all-foam mattress. Lightweight and average-weight combination sleepers will enjoy the Nolah’s responsiveness.
Side sleepers will be comfortable and supported on the TEMPUR-ProAdapt, TEMPUR-LuxeAdapt, and TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze in the Soft options. For back or stomach sleepers — who require extra firmness to stay aligned — we recommend any Tempur-Pedic mattresses in Medium-Firm or Firm.
The Nolah vs. TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid Mattresses By Body Type
Nolah Performance By Sleeping Position:
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |
---|---|---|---|
Lightweight (< 130 lbs): | 5 | 4 | 5 |
Average weight (130 – 230 lbs): | 4 | 3 | 5 |
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs): | 3 | 2 | 4 |
TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid Performance By Sleeping Position:
Body Type: | BACK SLEEPERS | STOMACH SLEEPERS | SIDE SLEEPERS |
---|---|---|---|
Lightweight (< 130 lbs): | 5 | 5 | 4 |
Average weight (130 – 230 lbs): | 5 | 4 | 4 |
Heavyweight (> 230 lbs): | 5 | 3 | 3 |
1 = Very poor, 2 = Not good, 3 = Fair, 4 = Good, 5 = Excellent
Average-Weight Sleepers (130–230 lbs)
Average-weight side sleepers will be most comfortable on the Nolah Original, but back sleepers will be sufficiently comfortable, too. The Nolah’s responsiveness makes it a good choice for average-weight combination sleepers. But if you’re a stomach sleeper, you’ll probably want something a little firmer.
The TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid’s combination of firmness and cushioning makes it a good fit for all back sleepers. For an average-weight side sleeper or stomach sleeper, this bed will also be a good fit. However, the TEMPUR-Cloud is not ideal for combination sleepers due to its thick layers of foam.
Heavyweight Sleepers (> 230 lbs)
Heavyweight back, stomach, and side sleepers will most likely find that the Nolah Original is too soft and doesn’t provide quite enough support. The Nolah may not be the best choice for heavyweight combination sleepers, either — it will probably be difficult to move around.
The TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid’s combination of firmness and cushioning makes it a good fit for all back sleepers. However, heavyweight side sleepers will probably need more support — and heavyweight stomach sleepers may sink too far into the mattress. What’s more, the TEMPUR-Cloud is not ideal for combination sleepers due to its thick layers of foam.
Lightweight Sleepers (< 130 lbs)
Lightweight side, stomach, and back sleepers should be very comfortable on the Nolah. The Nolah’s responsiveness makes it a great fit for lightweight combination sleepers, too.
The TEMPUR-Cloud Hybrid’s combination of firmness and cushioning makes it a good fit for all back sleepers. For a lightweight side sleeper or stomach sleeper, this bed will also be a good fit. But the TEMPUR-Cloud is not ideal for combination sleepers due to its thick layers of foam.
Differences In Mattress Construction
Tempur-Pedic mattresses range from 11” to 13” in thickness. The Nolah mattress is 10”. The mattresses are made from similar foam materials.

Support Layers
The Nolah mattress has a support layer made of 7” of durable, high-quality polyfoam. The TEMPUR-Cloud also incorporates high-density foam in its support layer.

Nolah vs. Tempur-Cloud Hybrid Mattress Performance Ratings & Differences
Temperature
In this category, the Nolah receives a 3 and the TEMPUR-Cloud receives a 4. The materials in the Nolah mattress — such as the TENCEL and AirFoam — are highly breathable and should keep you cool. The TEMPUR-Cloud is a hybrid bed, with coils that aid in ventilation.
Motion Transfer
In this category, the Nolah and TEMPUR-Cloud both receive a 2. For an all-foam mattress, the Nolah Original has sufficient edge support. The TEMPUR-Cloud is a hybrid mattress that should provide better support, but the foam layers are too soft.
Edge Support
In this category, the Nolah receives a 4.5 and TEMPUR-Cloud receives a 5. The AirFoam in the Nolah does a great job of absorbing movement, with the TEMPUR-ES foam in the TEMPUR-Cloud acting similarly.
Pressure Relief
In this category, the Nolah receives a 3.5 and TEMPUR-Cloud receives a 4. The Nolah does an excellent job of relieving pressure for back and side sleepers. The foam in Tempur-Pedic mattresses also reduces pain in your pressure points.
Pain Relief
While the Nolah offers decent pain relief, keep in mind that chiropractors recommend an extra-firm mattress to help reduce pain, and the Nolah is only medium-firm. The TEMPUR-Cloud is a good fit for back sleepers looking for pain relief because of its firmness level and foam construction.
Durability
In this category, the Nolah receives a 3 and TEMPUR-Cloud receives a 4. Materials like AirFoam help the Nolah last as long as possible, and the foam and coils used in TEMPUR-Cloud mattress strategically prevent sagging.
